Got my pink Lime Crime Velvetine lippy this morning and was delighted to find it matches my new hair colour!  Never felt so glamorous walking my dog before.
LCV is an amazing matt lip stain, it lasts for hours and its vegan too - is a must have for any vintage / rockabilly gal out there.  I now own all three colours, I'm not one to touch up my make up when out and am always impressed it's still looking perfect once back home (when lazy it's still even on the next morning)! I dont like this pic, I look so tired. I cant wait for the sun to come back and help hide those horrid under eye shadows xx

Northampton's Lou Lou's Vintage Fair

The rain was finally in hiding and it was the day to check out the Northampton Lou Lou's Vintage fair.  I had only been to Northampton twice before and both times left not feeling very impressed.  But what better way is the to lift the winter blues than to go vintage shopping!!
Firstly I had to decide what to wear, something practical for trying on any delights that catch my eye and that would resist any sudden downpours and gale winds. I choose one of my many trusted pairs of Freddies jeans, along with a vintage reproduction cardigan I bought off eBay and my gorgeous Tara Starlet jacket with my turban from Topshop (I never go high street shopping but saw this hat on ebay for 50p so had to bid).

The venue was in the lovely Guild Hall, built in 1864, the grand hall looked amazing being decorated with representations of famous men connected with the town from 1925 along with  "The Muses Contemplating Northampton".
I would say there must of been over 30 stalls there, including my favourite "Little Old Me" - they get all their stock from France, handing washing, and even replacing broken zips with vintage ones before selling; 3 of my favourite 50s dresses I've bought from them.

There was also a make-up/hair parlour selling Besame Cosmetics, every vintage gals favourite! Sadly I found them rather rude, being a vegan I went to look at the ingredient list of the mascara and had the holder snatch if out of my hand stating it wasn't a sample, upon repeating that I wanted to check out the ingredients she wouldn't give it back still claiming it wasn't a sample - now that's listening to your customers!
Still having tight purse strings after the festive season I didn't want to spend too much money, however upon seeing Little Old Me putting a dress on one of their dummy's I knew if it fitted I had to have it, I was further convince when I discovered it was a deadstock 50s dress - perfect!  I also fell in love with another dress due to its pattern, I'm not sure of it era as it's zip has been replaced but believe it to be early 60s.

Overall I had a wonderful day out, with many people passing comment upon how lovely I was dressed, which is always lovely to hear.  I even had two guys check me out which put an extra wiggle to my stride.  So Northampton has finally won me over, though only on vintage fair days!

Greetings and Salutations (40s day at work)

Hey, welcome to my blog :)

To sum me up in a nut shell I'm a vegan feminist socialist that digs the vintage 40s 50s rockabilly life style.

All throughout my life I've always been alternative, going through stages of goth, cyber, hippy etc. but for the last 10 years I've stuck to vintage - it's such a great classy look and easily falls into my ethos of recycling and only buying non sweatshop clothing!

During this time I've built up quite a lot of knowledge on vintage/retro clothing, shops, events and thought is was time I share it.  Also it will be nice to show you all my vintage wardrobe.

I had a great day at work on Friday as we were having a 40s theme day for metal health awareness. I was in my heyday, being able to wear my normal clothes and make-up to work (I work in a special needs school so practical clothing I don't mind being ruined wins over). Everyone said how great I looked and how hard it was for them to find something to wear, I just smiled thinking I had a whole wardrobe to choose from! I put up my hair in pin curls the night before but as it was very wet and windy decided not to take them out and cover with a scarf instead. Even my headscarf received many compliments, with many staff members stating they had practised all weekend and could not get it to look right asking me next time to give lessons, which I found very flattering.

Clothing wise I wore my Tara Starlet union-jack flag shirt, Heyday cord pants and Freddies of Pinewood cardigan. I loved this outfit so much I didn't get changed to go out that night, feeling amazing in this land girl look.
